My First Born Son

Years ago,
when my first son was born,
My parents where there in the hospital helping out

After long hours of labor
After insufferable back labor
Finally the prize was born

Later that afternoon,
as my parents where about to leave
after twelve hours + of being there at the hospital

Standing by the doorway of the hospital room
the proud new grandparents look back at
my wife, son and I
and

My Mom turns to my Dad
and asks
"honey, do you think it's safe
to leave the baby here with the kids (my wife and I)"

We had all had a good laugh - but there was truth in Mom's wisdom....
